Olin Keeves carries a cheerful countenance and an innocuous aura that belies a hidden and considerable potency. His most striking quality is the eerie ease with which he goes unnoticed: the fellowship encountered him dozens of times throughout their voyage on the Merchant's Maiden, and yet the memory of him slipped through their thoughts like water through a sieve.

Olin Keeves is a self-described harvester of secrets, sailing aboard the Merchant's Maiden under Captain Eleanor Marghissa. His near-supernatural capacity for anonymity makes him uniquely suited to gathering intelligence without detection.

During the fellowship's voyage from Kalzendil toward Rudiana, Olin emerged from the shadows beneath deck to reveal that he had conducted a thorough background check on each member of the party at the captain's behest. He appeared to share as much to test the fellowship as to inform them.

He identified Will An as a Sentinel of Zamak, explaining the nature of the ore from which Will is forged: a malleable substance capable of channeling the very magic of the soul. Zamak ore can be used to enchant and upgrade equipment, raise the fallen from their graves, or, as Olin hinted with a lingering gaze toward Mirelle, touch the essence of a living spirit. He further revealed the reach of the Zamak clan beyond Rudiana: one family had been established in Kalzendil, long since extinguished, and another in Iaras, recently butchered. This final revelation he delivered with a heavy, silent sympathy directed at Theodor.

Before departing, Olin promised the fellowship that their paths would cross again, then vanished back into the ship's anonymity as effortlessly as he had appeared.
