History

Pharos Pharao was once an apprentice of the Zamak Clan, and is widely remembered as the only known survivor of the clan’s destruction. Though not of Zamak blood himself, he belonged to the inner life of the clan and remained tied to its legacy long after its fall.

In the years that followed the disappearance of the Zamak from power, Pharos is said to have maintained the clan’s ancestral mansion in quiet isolation. The estate, which stood above the sealed Soul Forge, became in his keeping less a residence than a vigil — a last threshold preserved in the hope that the lost blood of Zamak might one day return.

Beyond this burden of inheritance, Pharos became known in his own right as a great sorcerer. In later years, he travelled widely and eventually came to the fungril village in Borunoa, where he met the young Ribby Wibby. Recognizing the ribbet’s talent for magic, Pharos agreed to train him and remained for a time in the village. Later, the two left together and journeyed through Aestilon.

During these travels, Pharos and Ribby fought many dangers. They confronted Bromi Plectospor, a fungril who spread death in pursuit of fungal growth, and later crossed paths with protectors of the natural world such as Yarbul Bramblewood. Ribby’s memories of these years place Pharos not only among the great spellcasters of his age, but among those whose power was tempered by care, patience, and a willingness to teach.

Pharos was last seen during a disastrous battle against a powerful lich. Realizing the group could not hope to prevail, he used his magic to teleport his companions to safety. The last image carried by Ribby Wibby was of his mentor being engulfed by the overwhelming force of the attack. Since that day, Pharos has been widely believed missing.
